MARKETHILL LIVESTOCK SHEEP SALE REPORT 12-03-20
An entry of 1750 sheep on Wednesday 11th March in Markethill returned a slightly easier trade for fat hoggets. Cull ewe prices were probably one of the best ever recorded at the Mart. A large entry of Ewes & Lambs sold at a very firm trade.
The 1100 hoggets sold in a slightly easier demand with good quality heavy hoggets selling from £108 to £115 each with good quality pens selling from 400p to 426p per kilo for 22 hoggets weighing 25.8kilos @ £110 each from an Armagh producer followed by 422p per kilo for 25kilos @ £105.50 each from a Glenanne farmer.
Good quality middleweights sold from 400p to 452p per kilo for 21kilos @ £95 from a Loughbrickland farmer and for 23.7kilos @ £107 each from a Portadown producer.
Over 340 Cull Ewes sold in an exceptionally strong trade to a top of £165 each with all fleshed ewes selling from £125 to £154 each. Second quality ewes sold from £90 to £120 each.
A full yard of Ewes & Lambs sold in a very firm demand with Doubles selling up to £295 with several others selling from £220 to £275 each. Good quality singles sold to a top of £192 each with others from £150 to £185 each.
